TODAY INTERNATIONAL COFEE DAY
Welcome to the perfect guide for your perfect cup of filter coffee!
Is coffee the reason you wake up every day? Is your morning coffee the most important factor to kickstart your day?
Well, this is the perfect article for all you coffee lovers!
How to brew the perfect cup of filter coffee at home?
There are some basic items/ingredients every filter coffee lover must have! (Don’t worry it’s not too many!)
- A coffee filter –
The filter is the most important component while making filter coffee. You can either get a percolator, a paper filter or a metal filter. But we would suggest a stainless steel or brass coffee filter. Mainly because while using a percolator or a paper filter, some of the oils of the coffee get removed. Metal filters don’t remove as much of the oil from the coffee. More oils end up in your delicious coffee to make it more aromatic and flavorful. The oils give a strong, rich coffee taste. Don’t forget to make yourprecious cup of coffee even better!
- Coffee powder –
Finding the perfect coffee powder is very important for any type of coffee! For a perfect, rich, delicious cup of coffee, you need to find the best powder!
An 80:20 ratio is used in a rich filter coffee. 80% coffee and 20% chicory.
Try all the brands you want and choose the best according to your taste!
That’s all you need to brew the perfect cup of coffee for you every day!
A BRIEF ON METAL COFFEE FILTERS:
It’s okay if you don’t know how to use the metal coffee filter. We’ve got your back!
For a newbie a coffee filter could seem overwhelming or time consuming. A coffee filter is actually a very easy, economical method to produce the perfect decoction to suit your tastebuds!
A metal coffee filter has 4 parts. The top half, bottom half, a cap and a metal filter.
The top and bottom half both resemble tumblers. The bottom half contains the final product – the decoction and the top half contains the coffee powder.
The main filter has to be added to the top half after adding the coffee powder. This filter helps in retaining the natural oil in the coffee and gives you the perfect, rich decoction!
If you are still reluctant in using a metal filter, you could try a percolator or a paper filter. For more details on this, visit our article on the types of coffee filters.
STEPS:
- Warm your coffee filter.
This is an important step that results in faster decoction. You just have to show your metal filter some heat! This can be done by just holding the filter above a flame.
- Heat water.
The hot water allows the coffee powder to dissolve better!
- Add your coffee powder.
Adding the perfect amount of powder adds to the essence of your coffee! If the coffee is for two people, make sure to add at least 2 and a half teaspoons of coffee powder to your filter. You can adjust the amount to your liking!
- Add the hot water.
Now is the time to sprinkle some hot water on your coffee powder. After you sprinkle it at first, slowly add more hot water and close the lid! Leave it for at least 15 – 20 minutes.
When you open the lid, you see your rich, aromatic decoction!
- Warm your milk and add adequate decoction.
You can add the decoction to your liking. If you like strong coffee, add more decoction and less milk. Vice versa if you don’t like strong coffee!
Yayyy! You’ve come to the end of this article. What are you waiting for?
Have your best coffee experience!
