Notification issued to appoint 1,242 Assistant Professors, Application submission to begin on Oct 7

Performance in KEA written exam will be the sole criteria, No interview

The state government has issued notification for the appointment of 1,242 vacancies of Assistant Professors in the government first-grade colleges and submission of online application will begin from October 7.

This time the appointment will be solely based on the performance in the written examination which will be conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) and there will be no interview. A decision to this effect was taken by the government to ensure transparency, Dr.C.N.Ashwatha Narayana, the Minister for Higher Education has clarified.

Narayana further said, “The exams will be held in the month of December and it will be mandatory for the candidates to get passed in Kannada and English language exams to become eligible. Candidates will be asked to write descriptive answers only in Kannada and English subjects. Other subjects will have only multiple-choice questions and there will be negative (-ve) marking for wrong answers.”

Out of 1,242 posts, 145 (for 16 subjects) belong to unfilled vacancies during 2015 and the remaining 1097 posts are sanctioned for the present year. In the present year, 1097 posts will be filled for 25 subjects that include Economics 72, Kannada 105, History 108, Political Science 96, Commerce 171, Physics 74, Chemistry 82, Botany 51, English 34 among others and details can be obtained on the website of KEA. and out of 1,242 posts 5% of posts will be done from Department’s group ‘C’ cadre, the Minister added.

“The aim of the government is to provide quality education to students along the lines of National Education Policy (NEP-2020) as aspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. So, only merit secured by the candidates in the examination which will be held transparently will be the criteria for selection. Our government firmly believes that only quality teachers can create quality students” he told.

The minister also warned the candidates not to be misguided by false promises of getting appointments through influence or any other illegal means.

The last date for submitting applications through the KEA website is November 7. The last date for paying the application fee will be Nov 10. For any other information such as age limit, application fee, payment slab one can visit https://kea.kar.nic.in.
