Nobody, including B S Y, can save BJP in the upcoming elections says Siddaramaiah

Must read

Leader of Opposition in Karnataka legislature assembly Siddaramaiah said that nobody, including B S Yediyurappa, can save BJP in the upcoming elections. People are frustrated with the steep increase in petrol & other essential commodity prices, and waiting for this government to end the term.

People fear about cases being slapped on them if they voice their frustration against the government. People will teach BJP a great lesson in the upcoming elections and will send their leaders back to home.

Siddaramaiah interacted with the reporters after Cycle Jatha from KPCC office to Vidhana Soudha against steep increase in fuel prices and other essential commodities.

Diesel price was just Rs. 47 and Petrol was just Rs75 when Crude Oil price had crossed more than $120 during Manmohan Singh tenure. Under Narendra Modi, Crude oil price came down drastically but excise duty was increased to burden common man siddaramaiah told.

About Rs 3.35 Lakh Cr has been collected as excise duty in 2020-21. In last 7 years, about Rs 1.20 Lakh Cr is collected as excise duty from Karnataka alone.

CM has cited Oil bonds as the reason for fuel price hike. The reality is the government had issued oil bonds of just Rs 1.4 Lakh Cr between 2006 and 2010. Issuing oil bonds were stopped after 2010.Narendra Modi government has just cleared Rs 3500 Cr of principal towards oil bond repayments and about Rs 70,000 as interest in last 7 years.

Manmohan Singh had cleared Rs 5762 Cr worth Oil bonds. This government needs to repay Rs 1,30,923 Cr towards repayment for Oil bonds. One year of excise duty is enough to repay all the dues pending towards Oil bonds. So the government can reduce excise duty by 50%.

Tamil Nadu has reduced the Tax on Petrol & Diesel. Let CM Basavaraj Bommai also do the same in Karnataka.Reducing fuel prices will reduce the prices of other essential commodities. People are already pledging their gold to cope up with the high inflation.

States have lost the autonomy of raising resources after the introduction of GST. Central govt is not paying GST compensation to the States properly and urging States to raise loans instead.

We urge CM Bommai to reduce tax on fuel but we know that he will not do. This is a shameless government. Poor and middle class families are severely hit siddaramaiah said .
