Today’s busy & hectic schedule sometimes doesn’t permit us to make our Breakfast & Lunch (irrespective of WFH or WFO !). Add to this, if one has senior citizens at home or if they are living all by themselves, its essential that clean & hygienic food is supplied at door step at the stipulated time every day.
There are plenty of food suppliers across Bengaluru who promise home made quality of food but some stand apart because of their outstanding customer service & implementing feedbacks that clients give.
The couple Shriharsha (49 years) & Nandita Hatwar (44 years) run Dhatri Foods and have a huge significant client base who swear by the quality of tasty vegetarian food provided by them 7 days a week.
Shriharsha worked as a Factory Manager with TLV Solutions, Peenya & has 25+ years of work experience & his better half Nandita worked as a EA (Executive Assistant) to the CEO at Swastik Foods. Together they decided to start their own venture which was initially supplying Chappatis to various restaurants in 2020.
However, post the lockdown their business did take a dip but due a chance factor of a neighbour requesting them for Breakfast & Lunch for about 10 days (as it was a mourning period in their house due to the passing away of a close relative because of COVID-19 & to run the kitchen in some customs is not permitted) turned out to be an opportunity for them. The word of mouth spread rapidly about the tasty vegetarian breakfast & lunch & before they knew, they were catering to close to 30-50 meals per day which would get picked by delivery teams of Dunzo/Porter or many times Shriharsha would personally go to deliver to various houses.
This entrepreneurial venture of the Husband-Wife team credits each other & are in complete sync with each other. While, Shriharsha manages the complete sourcing of products & dealing with the vendors, procurement & delivery, Nandita focuses on the menu, quality of food & the best of recipes. Nandita also adds, that though she is face of the brand, its her husband who is the complete support & backbone for their business who also works along with her in the kitchen. They both start their day as early as 4 AM in their Ground floor section of their house (and they stay in their artistically done First floor section of the house in J.P.Nagar) which is a dedicated place as a huge kitchen & is completely sanitized as per protocols.
The recipes which Nandita has learnt from her mother & mother-in-law down the years goes under continuous improvement & experiment too. YouTube videos also quite often help to innovate. They have dedicated WhatsApp groups where the next day’s menu is posted by the previous afternoon itself for their regular clients to confirm the Breakfast and/or Lunch or in many cases both.
The family of three (their son Abhiram is pursuing Engineering in Mysore) unwinds by listening to music, watching television & also meditation (as they are quite religious).
With a daily production of 700 Chapatis,10 Kgs of Rice,5 Kgs Dal & 15 Kgs of fresh vegetables & refined oil being used it’s a busy day at Dhatri Foods.Its the customer appreciation for their quality of food which keeps them going everyday.
