The website METROSAGA was started in 2017 by Srinag H & Pramod Hegde as an information portal. It grew by leaps & bounds 2019 onwards once their everyday situational videos started becoming viral on all social media platforms. The credit for the same goes to Corporate Professional, Akarsha, who juggles his Mon-Fri job with Schneider Electric devotes his weekend to scripting, production & acting in the videos along with a bunch of other like-minded talented youngsters. Son of noted Kannada poet M.R.Kamala (who retired as the Principal of a Bangalore based College) & Lawyer Ramesh(now retired), arts, music, dance & literature runs in the family. His sister, Sparsha, is a dubbing artist & singer.
37-year-old Akarsha studied in Vidya Vardhaka School, Rajajinagar followed by PUC in MES, Malleshwaram. Being very good in academics (he was state topper in SSLC), he pursued B.E from Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Bidadi & M.S in USA. He worked in California for couple of years & his pursuit for something more meaningful & creative brought him back to Namma Bengaluru.
In 2011 he had an arranged marriage with IT Professional Madhura & they have a 3-year-old son Abdhi (which means Sea/Ocean). In his school days, Akarsha actively participated and won Debates & Extempore competitions. Being a voracious reader of Kannada & English books from his childhood days he quotes liberally from various well-known authors.
Churning out 2 videos per week (each about 3 minutes duration) that are uploaded on YouTube (2.38K Followers) & Facebook (1.86 Lac Followers) is quite a time-consuming process which takes about 3-4 hours of shoot followed by edits & post production. Akarsha says this works well for him on weekends. Like a true team player, he credits all this to the fantastic set of colleagues at METROSAGA & also a supporting boss at his work. The team has already collaborated with a dozen Kannada movies & about 10 brand promotions through their videos which has given a huge spike & brand visibility to the marketeers.
The scene in Kannada movies, television & theatre is already pulling him & some of the offers are in progress. Akarsha has 4 movies & a web series coming up later in the year & is tight lipped about it!
Every day early morning walks help him with creative ideas for his upcoming videos & quite often they are based on IT centric office situations. He loves Kannada & is proud to use it on a every day basis with great affection for the language & is influenced by Kannada Author Keshava Malagi’s writings (other than Akarsha’s mother M.R.Kamala’s). He also enjoys reading & watching global authors & movies, his favorite being Russian Movie maker Andrei Tarkovsky(1932-1986).
Being a go-getter & always ready to experiment new genres, Akarsha responded to the METROSAGA team’s call for reviewers for Kannada Movies in 2019 & within no time Akarsha was contributing reviews every week followed by the content creation in the form of videos which started becoming viral instantly across Karnataka & Kannada speaking population across the world. From school going children to serious looking ‘Uncles’ all love his brand of humor which is never below the belt.
He is a great foodie who is comfortable having Thai food in hotels as well as eating street food from local vendors. He enjoys celebrating the Annual Ganesha-Gowri, Ugadi & Diwali with his Family & Relatives –who also serve as an inspiration for some of the characters in his videos. Observation is the key to bring about the small nuances & exaggerated gestures he says. Chikmagalur is his all-time favorite destination to unwind & loves travelling (has travelled to more than 20+ countries).
Dec 18th born Akarsha is a typical Sagittarius who is optimistic, charming & talkative too! We discussed Namma Bengaluru, philosophy, education, children & many more interesting anecdotes from his adventurous life. From almost pursuing his PhD to now creating viral videos this Bengaluru Boy has come a long way. The clean shaved head with a hint of salt-pepper beard adds to the overall persona of Akarsha who comes across as a rebel with a cause—the cause being to tickle our funny bone, the intellectual way.
Brand Guru Vinay Rao has given very good information about multi talented Akarsha Ramesh Kamala who is staying near our house. In fact I know his father a leading Advocate for last couple of decades and in fact Akarsha has rich heritage and his mother Kamala who is well known poet.
