The two years of pandemic have brought in lot of changes in our personal & professional lives. Some have been able to start their entrepreneurial journey inspite of many challenges & obstacles.
Sahadev Chincholikar comes across like any regular 29-year-old in an urban city in India. Behind the smiling face is a wonderful story of his (and his younger brother Financial Analyst Jaidev’s). His Parents (Doctor father & Teacher mother) separated when Sahadev was in his 4th grade & his mother Jyothi along with the 2 boys shifted base from Hyderabad to Bangalore in 2002. She became the primary earning member with no support from the father of the boys, who shifted to Libya followed by other countries. Jyothi started afresh & became a Montessori teacher & completely took care of her sons with no alimony nor any support from her relatives post the divorce.
Post his 10th grade Sahadev did his IATA Foundation course & joined the travel industry, working for some of the well-known travel websites. Having gained good exposure & hands on experience, Sahadev started his own entrepreneurial venture Café Travel. The venture started doing very well with word of mouth spreading about the excellent services & options, & booking requests started coming from across India for well curated hotel stays for travel within India & abroad.
Tragedy was waiting to strike this family of three when Sahadev’s mother Jyothi was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 & together, they braved this ordeal with many chemotherapy sessions & huge expenses which they managed by pooling in all their savings. It was a huge relief when she became cancer free albeit temporarily, as it recurred again & inspite of the best of care & facilities the 2 brothers could afford, their mother passed away in 2018(she was barely 58 years old). This created an unfillable vacuum in their lives.
Also, March 2020 onwards his Café Travel took a dip, as the pandemic halted travel plans for everybody across the world & business came to a pause.
Shifting gears towards his other passion of Baking, Sahadev was quick to start (and trying to move on with the irreparable loss of losing his mother) another venture The Bake Foundry. He has also done his Diplôme de Pâtisserie (Diploma in Pastry Arts) from Lavonne Academy of Baking Science & Pastry Arts, Bengaluru, and is certified by City & Guilds UK.
Again, word of mouth publicity worked well for Sahadev & his Instagram handle @dev.bakes @thebakefoundry where he started uploading the pics of the yummy bakery products started attracting lot of attention in Bangalore. The prices for cakes are in the range Rs.750 (1/2 Kg) to Rs.2,500(1.5 Kg) & Cookies Rs.140 each(100gms) with a minimum pack of 4. With the best of ingredients & hygiene, this Bake in India initiative of our J.P.Nagar resident is growing everyday with close to 20 orders per month from across the city which he delivers via Dunzo/Porter to your residence.
His dream is to open his own academy to teach baking & is hopeful to get investment for the same from venture capitalists.
Being a very optimistic & enthusiastic young man, he believes one should learn from their personal tragedies & keep moving ahead in life. His varied interests include Architecture, History, Aviation & has a huge collection of stamps & coins too. Sahadev comes across as a far more mature person for his age. With travel opening up, his initial venture Café Travel is also seeing some traction now.
With no traces of bitterness, his equation with his estranged father (who is recovering from a recent heart attack in Hyderabad) is also improving which shows his maturity at a young age.
With only sweetness & an inherent liking for his baking (and for his personality too) I say kudos to Sahadev! Feel free to reach out to him on +91 9036108141 for best cakes in Namma BAKEuru !
Inspiring article by brand Guru Vinay Rao who has narrated life journey of Sahadev may be many ways similar to many younger who can take a leaf from his experiences and never give up in life and Sahadev has become an entrepreneur with his hard work and talent. Pandemic has changed dynamics of many people and their lifestyle and perception which has been well narrated by Vinay Rao. Good thing about is giving contact number of the person who the writer provides which is useful to readers.
good article.
